Free associate BDGA membership.

Post by mat cutler » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:48 pm

At this years AGM I raised a motion to have an associate membership to the BDGA which would be free. It would not give you BDGA tour points just act as a great way of staying in touch with the player base of disc golf in the UK. It is not a free option for those of us on tour and former bdga members and associate members playing regularly on tour will be strongly encouraged to renew their full paid membership.

I hope to put together a postcard style flyer/card/membership which can be given to new/potential players. In the meantime I have put together the following google form.

http://goo.gl/THqcg

If anyone has any other suggestions for questions to ask or anything else please reply to this post. please don't fill in the form just yet!

I will post the embed code so that the form can go live on the bdga page, but also bristol, burnlaw, croydon, essex, harrogate, quarry park, shrewsbury burnlaw etc etc club pages.

Part of the drive for this apart from staying in touch with all the players of disc golf in the uk is to be able to show to sport england and other such bodies such as local councils our sport is growing, viable and popular. Funding for new courses etc will be much more readily available if we can demonstrate this.

This project will only be a success if each current member actively encourages new players they meet to fill out this form, or offer to do it for them! just take there name, and email and add them next time you can (please get their permission first!

THIS WILL NOT JUST HAPPEN IF WE PUT IT ONLINE AND WAIT FOR RESPONSES, IT WILL NEED EVERYBODIES INVOLVEMENT!

<iframe src="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/emb ... OTBISEE6MQ" width="760" height="1698" frameborder="0" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0">Loading...</iframe>

19 replies, 3 current members! (who can't read obviously!) 9 from south west. please email it on to people everyone!

It will only take off and be a useful resource for future course development, funding from large public bodies (sport england etc) if everyone who owns a disc or two / has every come out to play a few holes / used to / intends to play in the future / etc fill in the form!

This is up to YOU ALL please get all your friends to fill it in!

cheers

matt

143 associate members,

let's get it to over 500 by the end of the year!

just cleverly plotted them all to a gmap too

hopefully we can use this to direct development of new courses and local events and leagues with this info!

If you haven't already please get alll the players you know to add themselves to this!

Nice one, ta. Always best to make it zero extra work wherever possible when trying to get people to complete a form. :)

Might be worth hitting Britdisc (again?) and also with the invites for QP and Burnlaw as the next couple of months is a bit of a slack period for (non-Uni) Ultimate.

I've submitted this form 3 times now and not heard anything from it. Twice about 6 or 7 weeks ago and again last night. Am I doing something wrong.

Nope, no news letter. Totally understand the manual part slowing things down. Just wanted to see if I'd messed up somewhere.
